While his intentions are seemingly benevolent, many players still want to know if they should trust Sebastian Sallow in Hogwarts Legacy. Or perhaps more pertinent is whether or not they should betray him in the endgame. This guide will explore the consequences of betraying Sebastian Sallow in Hogwarts Legacy. We'll also take a closer look at his role in the game and how your actions can impact his fate (obviously, major spoilers lie ahead - you've been warned).

Should You Betray Sebastian Sallow In Hogwarts Legacy?

Regardless of which house you're sorted in, you will invariably meet Sebastian Sallow at some point in the Hogwarts Legacy main storyline. Through him, you'll learn all three of the Unforgivable Curses: the Killing Curse, the Cruciatus Curse, and the Imperius Curse. However, as you explore Sebastian's backstory, you'll uncover his desperate search for the dark magic responsible for inflicting pain on his sister, which will make you question whether you should trust him.

At first, Sebastian is a charismatic ally, but as you align yourselves to learn more about ancient magic, you'll discover that Sebastian's character arc changes. Specifically, the deeper he dives into the dark magic, the more he seems to become corrupted by it, to the point of him killing his uncle with Avada Kedavra in the "Shadow of Friendship" quest. Consequently, you can choose to turn him in. While the question of whether or not you should do it is completely up to you, a better question is: What happens when you betray Sebastian Sallow in Hogwarts Legacy?

What Happens If You Betray Sebastian Sallow In Hogwarts Legacy?

In short, your choice will greatly affect the endgame. If you decide to betray Sebastian Sallow in Hogwarts Legacy, he will be expelled from the school and put on trial with the Ministry for Magic. You and Omnis Gaunt will somewhat regret the decision, but you'll stand by it, believing it to be the right thing to do in the absence of any other choice. You'll concede that Omnis was right to warn Sebastian about exploring the dark arts and move on. Unfortunately, if you betray Sebastian this way, you will lose access to any Unforgivable Curses you haven't learned.

However, if you choose not to turn Sebastian in, you'll convince Omnis that betraying him will not only affect him but also impact Anne. As a result, Omnis will eventually convince her of the decision. You'll then speak to Sebastian, who will tell you that Anne believes his guilt of killing his uncle is punishment enough. Sebastian will also concede that he let everyone down and is grateful for your friendship. You'll then be able to interact with Sebastian to learn any of the Unforgivable Curses (assuming you chose not to learn them in the previous quests).

And that concludes our guide on whether or not you should betray Sebastian Sallow in Hogwarts Legacy! If you want, you can watch the video above for a walkthrough of exactly what happens in the game.
