Finding interests

Matt Moneymaker was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. When he was 11 years of age, Matt was introduced to documentaries depicting bigfoots and other strange phenomena. A prominent part of TV in the early years, the documentaries demanded all of Matt’s attention, and he was more than happy to give it. Mark was fascinated by the subject and devoured every documentary made on the subject. Since then, Matt has never lost the spark which first encouraged him to began exploring for bigfoots.

Putting things into action

During his period at UCLA in the 1980s, Matt started reaching out to other bigfoot researchers. At the same time, Matt began his first expeditions. In 1987, Matt discovered bigfoot tracks in the mountains of Ventura County, CA. Inspired by the findings, Matt devoted all of his time to exploration. In the early 1990s, Matt moved to Akron, Ohio to attend law school. In 1994, Matt encountered a sasquatch in a wildlife refuge southeast, further solidifying his beliefs that bigfoot exists.

Common grounds

There is a limit to what a person can do on his own. Humbled by his experience, Matt decided to form an organization to support bigfoot research all around the world. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization was established in 1995, by connecting bigfoot researchers across the internet. In 1996, the organization launched a website that allowed people to report sightings of bigfoot. Matt started running expeditions from the early 2000s. In 2000, during his first expedition, Matt recovered the Skookum Body Cast. The cast is considered to be the most damning evidence to prove the existence of bigfoot.

TV appearances

Over the years, Matt has also worked closely with TV channels producing several documentaries and TV shows on the subject. His first-ever documentary is Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, while Mysterious Encounters is the first TV show he produced. He joined the cast of  Finding Bigfoot from the very first season in 2011. Contrary to the title of the documentary none of the cast members including Ranae Holland, James Bobo Fay, Cliff Barackman were able to find Bigfoot. The show ended after 12 seasons on May 27, 2018.

Contribution

Over the years, Matt has made numerous contributions to bigfoot research all around the globe. He was the first person to introduce sound blasting and howling as a technique for locating bigfoots. He is also the man behind the Ohio Howl, the long moaning howl of a big male sasquatch. In 1992, Matt gave a conference on the knock sounds made by bigfoots at Rutgers University for the International Society of Cryptozoology. He is also the first person to categorize and conduct big-scale expeditions in America.
